What is an “AV Preeminent” Rating?

“AV” is a registered certification mark of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedure standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review process that rates lawyers. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary.

Martindale-Hubbell ratings fall into two categories

  1. Legal Ability
  2. General Ethical Standards

The “A” legal ability rating means “very high to preeminent”

And the “V” ethical standard rating means “very high”.
